NewsBreak tracking
NewsBreak affiliate conversion tracking with Tracked
A NewsBreak tracking workflow covering the callback ID, affiliate click ID, event mapping, campaign spend, and page-to-sale reporting.
NewsBreak affiliate tracking needs two click IDs and two conversion handoffs. Capture NewsBreak's callback ID with the ad visit, pass Tracked's offer-click ID to the affiliate network, then return a verified conversion through Tracked to the originating NewsBreak click.
Tracked supports NewsBreak account reporting, campaign mapping, and outbound conversion delivery. It also hosts and edits landing pages, so you can inspect which page and offer generated the event before changing the campaign.

Keep the NewsBreak ID separate from the affiliate ID
NewsBreak ad → Tracked captures NewsBreak callback ID
→ page → offer click creates Tracked click ID
→ affiliate network stores Tracked ID
→ network postback returns Tracked ID
→ Tracked conversion delivery uses original NewsBreak ID
| Identifier | Who creates it | Where it must return |
|---|---|---|
| NewsBreak callback ID | NewsBreak replaces __CALLBACK_PARAM__ after an ad click. | NewsBreak's conversion receiver. |
| Tracked offer-click ID | Tracked creates it when routing the offer click. | Tracked's /postback as click_id. |
Putting the NewsBreak ID into Tracked's inbound click_id field will not create the right match. Likewise, NewsBreak cannot attribute an event using a Tracked-generated ID. Save both through the campaign journey and use each at its own boundary.
Capture the callback parameter on the ad destination
Select NewsBreak as the traffic source and use the generated Tracked campaign URL. The built-in NewsBreak setup uses:
https://YOUR_TRACKED_CAMPAIGN_URL?newsbreak_cid=__CALLBACK_PARAM__
This example shows the parameter contract; use your actual campaign URL and the correct ? or &. NewsBreak expands __CALLBACK_PARAM__ to its click value. Its generic postback guide documents the macro, storage requirement, and event test.
Keep a single effective callback parameter. If your saved source configuration uses a custom parameter name, follow that configuration and confirm Tracked captures it. Adding a second copy of the macro can make the URL harder to diagnose. Inspect an approved NewsBreak test click, not just a pasted URL preview: the literal macro is a template, not a captured identifier.
Connect the page and affiliate offer
Use a hosted page when you want to edit its headline, offer framing, or CTA in Tracked. Wire the offer action to the appropriate /click/N slot and configure the eligible offer. Keep the campaign and creative values you need for reporting on the entry path.
Add {{click.id}} to the affiliate link field that stores an external tracker ID. The field varies by network. Then configure the network callback to return that same stored value as Tracked's click_id:
https://YOUR_TRACKED_DISPATCHER_HOST/postback?click_id=NETWORK_MACRO_FOR_TRACKED_ID
The capitalized placeholder above is explanatory, not a working network token. Use the actual network macro. Add verified numeric payout and currency where supported, then test the primary event before adding secondary funnel callbacks. The postback setup guide explains Tracked's primary-versus-secondary event behavior.
Map the recorded event back to NewsBreak
Set up the intended postback event in NewsBreak's event-management controls and enable the campaign's matching conversion delivery in Tracked. A purchase and a submitted form should map to the appropriate provider event; the built-in NewsBreak mapping supports complete_payment for purchases and submit_form for leads.
Tracked's NewsBreak delivery adapter uses the stored source callback ID, configured event, and recorded value. This is separate from the affiliate network's callback into Tracked. An inbound success proves Tracked received a conversion; it does not prove NewsBreak accepted the outbound delivery or attributed it.
Decide what event value represents before using value-based reports. Affiliate commission is not necessarily the customer's order total. Check what the network sends, what Tracked records, and what NewsBreak receives. Do not silently mix those amounts.
Connect spend to the right campaign
Connect the NewsBreak account with its API key through the supported account flow and map the source campaign to the Tracked campaign. Scheduled reporting and spend synchronization rely on that mapping. A working conversion callback does not automatically establish the spend join.
Review the same dates and timezone when reconciling spend and conversions. Page profit in Tracked uses allocated campaign spend; it is not a separate invoice-level cost for each landing page. The campaign profit guide explains how to interpret those numbers.
Verify the entire chain before scaling
- Use NewsBreak's event test flow to open the campaign URL with a real callback ID.
- Confirm the intended page loads and Tracked captures the source ID and campaign context.
- Follow the offer CTA. Confirm the affiliate link receives a real Tracked offer-click ID.
- Trigger an authorized affiliate test conversion. Check its campaign, page, offer, event, and payout in Tracked.
- Inspect Tracked's outbound delivery result, then return to NewsBreak's event test screen and check its result.
- Confirm account and campaign mapping separately before comparing spend and attributed payout.
If the sale appears in Tracked but not NewsBreak, investigate the source callback ID, event mapping, delivery enablement, and provider response. If neither system shows it, first investigate the affiliate link and inbound callback. That distinction keeps you from changing page copy to solve a broken event handoff.
Frequently asked questions
Is the NewsBreak callback ID the same as the Tracked click ID?
No. The NewsBreak ID connects the conversion back to the ad platform. The Tracked ID joins the affiliate callback to the campaign and offer click. Each must return to its own receiver.
Can Tracked host a prelander for a NewsBreak campaign?
Yes. Import a supported HTML/ZIP page, connect it to the campaign, and route its CTA through a tracked offer slot. You can then inspect the page-to-offer journey and edit the page in the same workspace.
Does enabling a network postback automatically sync NewsBreak spend?
No. Spend reporting requires the supported account connection and correct campaign mapping. Verify that separately from the conversion chain.
Why does NewsBreak still show no event after Tracked receives a sale?
Check the captured NewsBreak ID, mapped event, delivery result, and NewsBreak's test result. An inbound affiliate conversion and an outbound provider delivery are separate operations.
