DV360 tracking
DV360 tracking: dclid, click macros, and reports in Tracked
Copy a paste-ready DV360 landing URL, let DV360 append dclid, and break results down by insertion order, line item, creative, and site.
To track a Google DV360 campaign in Tracked, choose Google DV360 as the campaign's traffic source and paste the copied campaign URL into DV360 as the landing page URL. That URL carries DV360's own ${...} macros for the insertion order, line item, creative, site, and inventory. DV360 adds its dclid click ID by itself, and Tracked stores it with the visit.
From there, each DV360 click joins the same journey as your other traffic: landing page, offer click, conversion, and report.
What Tracked captures from a DV360 click
Tracked's DV360 source adds twelve parameters, each filled by a DV360 macro. The descriptions follow Google's macro reference.
| Tracked parameter | DV360 macro | What DV360 inserts |
|---|---|---|
insertion_order_id | ${INSERTION_ORDER_ID} | The insertion order that served the impression |
line_item_id | ${CAMPAIGN_ID} | The line item that served the impression |
creative_id | ${CREATIVE_ID} | The creative served |
site_id | ${UNIVERSAL_SITE_ID} | The website in the bid request |
source_url | ${SOURCE_URL_ENC} | The encoded page URL from the bid request, if known |
bundle_id | ${BUNDLE_ID} | The app ID from the bid request, if known |
exchange_id | ${EXCHANGE_ID} | The exchange |
publisher_id | ${PUBLISHER_ID} | The exchange ID, except on Verizon Media Exchange, where it is the publisher ID |
deal_id | ${INVENTORY_SOURCE_EXTERNAL_ID} | The deal the impression won |
geo_dma | ${GEO_DMA} | A 3-digit Nielsen DMA code, or "undetermined" |
auction_id | ${AUCTION_ID} | A unique ID for each ad call |
gdpr | ${GDPR} | 1 for traffic from a GDPR region, 0 otherwise |
Three details trip up most DV360 setups:
${CAMPAIGN_ID}returns the line item ID. Google documents it that way despite the name. Tracked stores it asline_item_id.- No macro returns the DV360 campaign ID. The insertion order is the closest campaign-level grouping.
${LINE_ITEM_ID}is not on Google's list. Some guides use it anyway. Use${CAMPAIGN_ID}instead.
Google documents ${GEO_DMA} for third-party creative tags. ${AUCTION_ID} changes on every ad call, so use it to trace a request rather than to group results.
Set up a DV360 campaign in Tracked
- In the campaign's Basics, choose Google DV360 as the traffic source.
- In the campaigns table, use Copy URL on that campaign. The copied URL already includes the DV360 macros.
- In DV360, paste it as the creative's landing page URL.
- Confirm Enhanced attribution is on under Resources > Floodlight > Basic details.
The copied URL looks like this, shown on separate lines for readability:
https://your-domain.example/dv360-offer
?insertion_order_id=${INSERTION_ORDER_ID}
&line_item_id=${CAMPAIGN_ID}
&creative_id=${CREATIVE_ID}
&site_id=${UNIVERSAL_SITE_ID}
&source_url=${SOURCE_URL_ENC}
&bundle_id=${BUNDLE_ID}
&exchange_id=${EXCHANGE_ID}
&publisher_id=${PUBLISHER_ID}
&deal_id=${INVENTORY_SOURCE_EXTERNAL_ID}
&geo_dma=${GEO_DMA}
&auction_id=${AUCTION_ID}
&gdpr=${GDPR}
dclid is missing on purpose. Google's Enhanced attribution guide says DV360 appends it to the landing page URL on click. Enhanced attribution is on by default for new advertisers. If you manage Floodlight in Campaign Manager 360, enable it there. Don't add your own dclid parameter; it would duplicate the real one.
Where DV360 macros don't expand
Google lists limits on its macros. Plan around them before launch:
- YouTube ads and data-driven creatives don't support DV360 macros.
- Studio dynamic creatives don't expand macros placed directly in landing page URLs. Studio supports macros only through key-values in Campaign Manager 360 placements.
- Third-party tags, such as Campaign Manager 360 or Flashtalking, own their click-through. DV360 inserts macros into the tag, so set up the parameters where that tag's click tracking is configured.
Tracked stores the value it receives. If a macro doesn't fill for a placement, its report column shows a blank or the literal text, such as ${GEO_DMA}. Drop that parameter from the URL or ignore that breakdown.
Keep dclid on the page that runs Floodlight
Google's tag reads dclid on the landing page. If the advertiser's tag sits behind a Tracked prelander or redirect, that page needs the value too.
Tracked forwards only the parameters you declare. Add dclid={{platform.click_id}} to the offer or redirect URL, beside the Tracked click ID:
https://advertiser.example/offer?sub1={{click.id}}&dclid={{platform.click_id}}
Tracked fills {{platform.click_id}} with the dclid captured on the visit. {{click.id}} becomes the offer-click ID the advertiser returns in its postback. sub1 is illustrative; use the advertiser's supported field. The dynamic macros guide covers both tokens.
Read DV360 results in your reports
Tracked maps DV360's IDs onto its cross-network report dimensions:
| DV360 value | Tracked report dimension |
|---|---|
| Insertion order | Campaign ID (All Networks) |
| Line item | Ad Set ID (All Networks) |
| Creative | Ad ID (All Networks) |
| Site | Placement (All Networks) |
Those dimensions also hold Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and other sources. You can compare a DV360 line item with a Meta ad set in one report.
Exchange, deal, DMA, app bundle, and the other values appear as captured parameters once clicks carry them. dclid stays attached to each click as an identifier, not a report breakdown.
See profit with DV360 spend
Tracked imports DV360 spend, so reports show CPA, ROAS, and profit next to tracked clicks and conversions.
Send conversions back to DV360
Tracked sends confirmed conversions back to DV360, matched to the original click by its dclid. If Floodlight tags already count the same conversion, decide which source counts it before you send both.
Tracked records a conversion when the system that confirms the sale returns the Tracked click ID. The postback URL guide explains that handoff.
Test one DV360 click before launch
- Use a served ad click. A creative preview may not expand macros or append
dclidthe way a live click does. - Find the visit in Tracked and confirm
dclidholds a real value. - Check each DV360 parameter for real IDs, not literal
${...}text. - Follow the offer click. Confirm the advertiser URL carries the Tracked click ID, plus
dclidif Floodlight runs there. - Trigger a test conversion and confirm it attaches to that click in Tracked.
- Confirm the conversion appears in DV360.
Frequently asked questions
Which DV360 macro returns the line item ID?
${CAMPAIGN_ID}. Google documents it as the line item that served the impression. Tracked stores it as line_item_id and reports it as Ad Set ID (All Networks).
Is there a DV360 macro for the campaign ID?
No. Google's macro list has no DV360 campaign-ID macro. Use the insertion order, which Tracked reports as Campaign ID (All Networks).
Do I need to add dclid to my landing page URL?
No. DV360 appends dclid on click when Enhanced attribution is on. Tracked's copied URL leaves it out so the value isn't duplicated.
Can I use ${LINE_ITEM_ID}?
It isn't on Google's DV360 macro list. Use ${CAMPAIGN_ID} for the line item.
Do DV360 macros work in YouTube ads?
Google says DV360 macros aren't supported in YouTube ads or data-driven creatives. Test a live click and check which values arrive.
