Keitaro Alternatives: Self-Hosted vs Hosted Trackers
A vendor-authored shortlist for replacing Keitaro: decide who should run the tracker server, compare five options from first-party sources, and price the full monthly job.
The right Keitaro alternative depends on one question first: do you still want to run your own tracker server? If yes, compare Binom's self-hosted license. If you want the vendor to operate the infrastructure, compare Binom Cloud, Voluum, RedTrack, BeMob, or Tracked. Consider Tracked when hosted landing pages and visual page edits belong in the same workspace as click and conversion tracking. If Keitaro already handles your campaigns and server work is not a burden, staying may be the cheapest move.
This is a Tracked-authored selection guide, not an independent review. On October 22, 2026, we read first-party vendor pages and documentation and reviewed current Tracked source code. We did not buy licenses, install servers, run competitor accounts, or measure redirect speed. The order of options is not a ranking.
What is Keitaro built for?
Keitaro is a self-hosted ad tracker: you install the software on a server you rent, and that server records visits, clicks, and conversions. Its homepage puts the choice plainly: "Choose self-hosting for maximum control, privacy, and unlimited growth potential" (keitaro.io).
Keitaro's documentation describes a full tracking stack on that server:
- Installation: a VPS or VDS is required. The auto-installer expects a clean CentOS 9 Stream server (CentOS 10 Stream is also listed), KVM virtualization, at least 20 GB SSD, and at least 4 GB RAM (installation guide, FAQ).
- Landing pages: "Local" landing pages are stored on the tracker. You upload a ZIP whose main file is
index.htmlorindex.php, and a code editor opens after upload (local landing pages, editor). - Routing: campaigns choose flows by position or by weight. Keitaro notes that weighted splits only approach the configured shares over a large click sample (flows).
- Postbacks: an inbound postback must carry
subid(the tracker's click ID) andstatus;payoutis optional (postback docs).
So Keitaro already hosts landing page files inside the tracker. Hosting pages is not, on its own, a reason to leave. The real decision is usually about who runs the server, what the editing workflow looks like, and what the whole monthly job costs.
Who should run the tracker server?
Self-hosting moves operating work onto your team. That is a fair trade if you want control over the machine, data location, and software version, and someone owns the server when it breaks.
| Operating task | Self-hosted tracker (Keitaro, Binom v2) | Vendor-operated tracker (Binom Cloud, Voluum, RedTrack, BeMob, Tracked) |
|---|---|---|
| Rent and size the server | You choose the provider and size for traffic bursts and geography | Vendor runs the infrastructure; you work within plan terms |
| OS and software updates | You start or schedule them; Keitaro documents an admin-run update under Maintenance | Vendor ships updates |
| Backups and recovery | You define and test them; we found no Keitaro backup guide linked from its install page | Vendor-managed; confirm what export and retention you get |
| Moving to a new machine | Your migration; Keitaro documents a server-transfer guide | Not your task, but leaving the vendor needs its own export plan |
| Capacity limits | Set by your hardware | Set by plan allowances and overage rules |
| Data location and access | On infrastructure you rent | On the vendor's infrastructure under its terms |
Neither column is automatically better. Pick the one whose work your team will actually do.
Keitaro alternatives compared
Every competitor statement below links to a first-party page read on October 22, 2026, or to our earlier dated comparison. "Not found in public documentation" means we did not find it. It does not mean the product lacks it.
| Option | Who runs the tracker | Landing pages in the tracker? | Fits when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keitaro (baseline) | You, on a rented VPS/VDS | Yes: Local ZIP pages plus a code editor | You want to keep full server control |
| Binom v2 | You, on your server | Yes: integrated ZIP pages and a Files editor (integrated pages) | You want self-hosting, but a different product |
| Binom Cloud | Binom; its FAQ says Cloud includes "the server, monitoring, and optimization" (pricing) | Same product family as v2; confirm Cloud specifics | You like the self-hosted feature set but want the server handled |
| Voluum | Voluum | Its FAQ says Voluum "doesn't develop nor hosts landing pages" (FAQ) | You host pages elsewhere and want a vendor-run tracker |
| RedTrack | RedTrack | Setup asks you to paste your landing page URL; no hosting step in that guide (landing page setup) | Ad-platform conversion feedback is the priority |
| BeMob | BeMob | Its help says your landing page "should be hosted externally" (landing pages) | You want a lower-entry vendor-run tracker and already host pages |
| Tracked | Tracked | Yes: hosted HTML/ZIP pages with a visual editor | You want page edits beside clicks, conversions, reports, and journeys |
For deeper two-way decisions, read Tracked vs. Binom, Tracked vs. Voluum, Tracked vs. RedTrack, and Tracked vs. BeMob. If BeMob or ClickFlare is already on your shortlist, BeMob alternatives and ClickFlare alternatives compare each against other vendor-run trackers. Those pages carry their own source-check dates.
Landing pages, routing, and reporting
Landing pages: code editor or visual editor?
Keitaro and Binom both store page files on the tracker and let you edit them as files. Keitaro's editor is a code editor for HTML, PHP, CSS, JS, and similar files. That suits buyers who are comfortable changing markup directly.
Tracked hosts uploaded HTML/ZIP pages and adds a visual editor, so a headline or button change does not require opening raw markup. Tracked's hosted pages are static files. We found no PHP execution path in current Tracked source. If a Keitaro page depends on index.php server-side logic, plan to rebuild that logic or keep that page elsewhere. The hosted vs. proxy vs. redirect guide explains which delivery mode keeps a page editable.
Voluum, RedTrack, and BeMob document externally hosted pages. That works fine if you already like your page host; edits simply happen in a separate tool.
Routing: positions, weights, and rules
Keitaro routes through flows chosen by position or by weight, with optional visitor binding. Tracked supports conditional rules and owner-configured weights for pages and offers. In both, a 50/50 setting describes intended allocation, not an exact split in a small sample. Tracked does not pick winners automatically today; see weighted rotation with click slots for how its weights work.
Postbacks and reporting
The postback mechanism is the same idea everywhere. The tracker creates a click ID, you pass it to the offer in a sub-ID field, and the network returns it in a server-to-server postback. Keitaro calls that ID subid; Tracked's offer URL uses {{click.id}}. Field names differ by network, so map each one deliberately. The postback URL guide walks through the Tracked side.
Keitaro's homepage says reports export as CSV, HTML, or JSON and lists an Admin API. Tracked exports the current report selection as CSV and shows per-event journeys. Neither export format is a verified import path into the other product.
How do you compare the cost of a Keitaro alternative?
Compare the monthly job, not the headline price. A self-hosted license price leaves out the server. A hosted plan price may leave out event overages, extra seats, or page hosting.
Keitaro's own pricing, as displayed on keitaro.io/en/pricing on October 22, 2026, listed three Individual editions: Starter at €40/month, Advanced at €72/month, and Expert at €104/month. The page shows these next to a "Yearly" toggle, and we could not confirm from the page whether they are month-to-month prices or annual-billing equivalents. The table appears to pair Starter with 1 user and 1 domain, Advanced with 1 user and 100 domains, and Expert with up to 5 users and 500 domains. Keitaro's FAQ also mentions team and enterprise editions and multi-month purchase discounts. Third-party sites quote conflicting Keitaro prices; treat keitaro.io as the only reliable source and confirm before you buy.
None of those figures include the VPS. Keitaro's FAQ says auto-installation requires purchasing a server.
| Cost line | Self-hosted (Keitaro, Binom v2) | Vendor-operated (others, including Tracked) |
|---|---|---|
| Software license or subscription | Published license price | Published plan price; check billing cadence |
| Server | Separate rental, sized for peak traffic | Included in the service |
| Page hosting | Included if you use tracker-stored pages | Separate for Voluum, RedTrack, BeMob; included for Tracked hosted pages |
| Volume charges | Bounded by hardware, not per-event fees | Event allowances and overage rules vary |
| Seats and domains | Per edition | Per plan |
| Operating time | Updates, monitoring, backups, recovery | Mostly vendor-side |
Binom's pricing page showed $149 and $104 for v2 beside a monthly/yearly toggle and $299 for Cloud; our Binom comparison explains how we read those figures. For Voluum, RedTrack, and BeMob, check their current pricing pages; event definitions differ, so equal "event" counts are not equal workloads.
Tracked's pricing lists plans, but its allowances are display-only and not verified enforced capacity. Do not treat any of these numbers as a savings calculation. Price the same campaign in each product: visits, offer clicks, postbacks, domains, seats, and pages.
Switching from Keitaro without losing conversions
There is no verified Keitaro-to-Tracked importer. Plan a rebuild and a transition window. The Keitaro migration guide covers backups, domain overlap, and server shutdown timing step by step.
- Export what you need to keep. Download Local landing page files, campaign settings, and report exports. Keep the Keitaro server running until late conversions stop arriving.
- Rebuild pages. Upload static HTML/ZIP pages to the new tool. Replace Keitaro CTA links such as
/?_lp=1with the new tracker's click link. In Tracked, CTAs point at a click slot such as/click/1. - Rebuild routes. Recreate flows as routes with explicit weights and conditions. Remember that forced flows, visitor binding, and position order in Keitaro may not map one-to-one.
- Remap the click ID. Change the offer URL so the network stores the new tracker's click ID. Old Keitaro
subidvalues cannot be credited in another tracker. - Run postbacks in parallel. Keep the Keitaro postback live for old clicks. Add the new postback for new traffic. Fire one real conversion through the new campaign before scaling.
- Switch traffic gradually. Move one campaign first and keep a rollback URL.
If a postback stops recording after the move, start with postback troubleshooting before blaming the tracker. The campaign setup guide works as a Tracked-side checklist.
Where Tracked is today
Hosted HTML/ZIP pages, visual editing, custom domains, owner-configured weighted and conditional routing, click tracking, incoming postbacks, reports, and event journeys are available in current source. Signup is invite-gated early access; you need an invite or an access request.
Universal CAPI, automatic winner selection, and cross-device attribution are in development. Outbound conversion delivery and spend sync differ by provider and need provider-specific setup. Tracked is a managed service, so it does not offer the server-level control that self-hosting gives Keitaro and Binom v2 users. It also does not run server-side PHP pages, and it has no Keitaro import. If those are hard requirements, a self-hosted alternative or staying on Keitaro is the better fit.
Frequently asked questions
Does Keitaro have a cloud version?
We did not find a Keitaro-operated cloud service in the public documentation we reviewed. Its installation docs require a VPS or VDS that you rent. The pricing FAQ asks the question, but the answer did not render in our retrieval, so confirm directly with Keitaro.
What is the closest self-hosted Keitaro alternative?
Binom v2 is the closest match among the options here. It is self-hosted, stores integrated landing pages, and supports weighted routing and postbacks. Binom also sells a Cloud option if you want the same product family without running the server.
Keitaro vs Binom: which should I choose?
Both are self-hosted trackers with tracker-stored pages, so compare the specifics. Look at server requirements (Keitaro documents CentOS; Binom v2 documents Ubuntu), license editions, user and domain allowances, and Binom's Cloud option. Run one campaign on paper in both before you migrate.
Is a hosted tracker cheaper than a self-hosted one?
Not by default. A self-hosted license plus a server can cost less than a hosted plan at high volume, or more once you count operating time. Compare license or plan, server, page hosting, overages, seats, and your hours spent on maintenance.
Can I move my Keitaro landing pages to Tracked?
Static HTML pages and their assets can be uploaded as HTML or ZIP files. Replace Keitaro-specific CTA links and macros with Tracked equivalents. Pages that rely on PHP need that logic rebuilt, because Tracked serves static files.
